How Entrepreneurs Should Face FEAR

Any entrepreneur should realize that starting up a business is all about taking risks.

There is probably no person who is not afraid of something. Although having an extreme fear of something may be considered as an unusual. For entrepreneurs, life is not any different from ordinary people. All of us face different challenges day in and day out. The complexities may be different, but just the same, we need to face these adversities in order to improve our lives and make a difference.

How Entrepreneurs Deal With Fear

There are two types of entrepreneurs: One, is the person that creates various business all the same time and two, the person that creates one and focuses on it. Between the two, who do you think faces fear? If you plainly look at the sentence, you would think that the first person is fearless because he is able to create various businesses while the second person just wanted one business to handle. Despite the difference in the number of businesses that these two persons handle, both of them face a certain degree of fear. The only difference is that the first person may be more of a risk-taker than the second.

There are a lot of entrepreneurs these days that deal with more than one business at the same time. And along with these are numerous struggles along the way. But instead of being fearful, he finds a way on how to turn around things and create solutions that can completely eradicate or at least minimize problems.

FEAR may have two meanings. It may either be Face Everything And Run, or Face Everything And Rise. If you are an entrepreneur, you need to realize that the struggle doesn’t stop once you have completely set-up the business. It is actually the start of a string of challenges as you climb your way up.

A fearful entrepreneur easily gives up and would rather stick to the traditional ways. For security, he would rather be tied with just one rather than expose himself to other opportunities. The thing with this kind of thinking is that there may be new doors that are opening for him which can truly make a huge difference in his career as an entrepreneur. But probably because of not having too much confidence to work outside his comfort zone, he would just rather stay stuck.

There is actually a solution to how this kind of thinking can be changed--- and that is by believing in oneself. What I mean is that there is no better person that can believe your capabilities than yourself. To gain confidence, an entrepreneur must equip himself with the right skills and knowledge so he can fully explore new opportunities.

On the other hand, the first entrepreneur who has a lot on his plate does not make him fearless at all. In fact, there should be more things that can make him anxious particularly with regards to manpower and finances. But, he who creates a business and develops the right attitude may become more successful, but of course, the credit is not all his to keep. The people who help him are his armies that help battle the difficulties that they encounter every day.

Signs of How Fear is Holding You Back

One may easily admit that they are afraid. However, there are those who would try to keep the signs from showing, but still manifests in so many ways.

  1. Being a pessimist. This is the kind of person who just plainly sees the negative things around him. Despite what others may tell him that something is good, he would rather point out the downfall than see the benefits.
  2. Fails to think things through. It is like having an immediate answer without thinking of other possibilities. It is also like having set his mind into one single thing and no one could ever give an opinion about it.
  3. Jumps off at the sign of change. Change is something that we cannot avoid. However, what could be more appealing is to have a positive change. People who reject any change is a sign of being fearful to accept new sets of standards.
  4. Does not mingle with other people. He would rather stay in his room or ask someone else to take his place rather than to connect with people.
  5. Fails to make the right decision. Being superstitious can affect one’s decision. Although these are normal in some cultures it sometimes affects how something should be decided on particularly in business. Relying too much on how the elders think about certain things delays a decision that needs to be done.

No entrepreneur can claim success unless he is able to conquer his fear.

Handling FEAR

How To Conquer Fear

You can hide behind your desk and just pray that things would be how you want them to be. You need to do something to run a business successfully. Face your fear. It is like eating a certain food that you are allergic with and in the long run, you get immune from it, somehow. If you fear public speaking, learn how you can improve how you relate to people. Being an entrepreneur, you should be out there speaking to people and showing off what your business is all about.

  1. Change how you perceive adversities. Keep in mind that nothing will stay the same for long. And time passes, the world changes as well. A perfect example is how technology created a large impact on business today. Adapting digital technology into your business allows you to expand your business. You no longer are confined with the community around you, but you also get to have the opportunity to sell your products and services online 24/7.
  2. Identify what causes your fear. Sometimes there are situations or events in the past that may be causing our fear. It is best to talk to a professional regarding this so that you may be relieved from it and finally have a strong will to go move on with the world.
  3. Educate yourself. What are you afraid of? Learn more about what you are fearful about so that you can have a better understanding and then you can drive at a better solution on how to turn around things.
  4. Eyes on your goal. No entrepreneur would want to become a failure. In the first place, why would you even start a business if you would just let it standstill? Your goal, of course, is to become successful and to be able to reach that goal, something needs to be done.
  5. Believe in yourself. Never underestimate your capabilities. Believe that you can do things and make them better. Forgive yourself for the mistakes that you may have done and allow yourself to rise up with your head held up high.

Be surrounded by people who can pull you up rather than those who would only condone to your fear. If others can do it, so can you. Seek an expert on how you can focus more on the positive rather than dragging yourself down.
