Negosyo o Ningas Kugon?

We’ve all met people who start something with incredible energy—new business, new project, new diet—but after a few weeks, their motivation fades. In business, this is what we call 'ningas kugon'—burning bright at the start, then quickly dying down.

In entrepreneurship, many Filipinos launch their business with excitement. They print the signage, post on Facebook, and tell everyone about their new venture. But after a few months, sales slow down, challenges appear, and that excitement fades away. The once-passionate entrepreneur begins to lose consistency.

The truth is, consistency—not passion—is what separates successful entrepreneurs from dreamers. Passion gets you started, but discipline keeps you going. Without structure, even the best idea will fade. You can’t rely on motivation alone; you need habits, systems, and accountability.

Ask yourself: Are you running your business based on emotion or on a plan? Real entrepreneurs treat their business like a marathon, not a sprint. It’s not about being the most excited at the start—it’s about still showing up when the excitement is gone.

Here’s a practical tip: Build small habits that create momentum. Review your goals weekly. Track your sales daily. Celebrate small wins. And most importantly, remind yourself why you started. Because the real fire that sustains success comes from purpose—not hype.

What I Would Think and Recommend

Anyone can start a business, but not everyone can stay consistent. 'Ningas kugon' is the killer of potential. If you want to grow, focus on showing up every day—especially when it’s hard. That’s where real success begins. In my years mentoring entrepreneurs, I’ve seen that consistency builds credibility. Stay the course, and your brand will earn both respect and results.
