Practical Business Ideas with Small Capital
GMB IT | January 30, 2026
Filipinos are naturally creative. Probably, one big reason that stops them from engaging themselves in worthwhile activities, such as building their own business, is the lack of capital. And I do understand how some of them would rather try their luck winning the lotto instead. However, suppose one really thinks of all the opportunities around us. In that case, it is a total waste not to grab any of them. And it is just a waste how some would instead do nothing when they can make use of their time doing something that can help their families. 2020 is a tough year. True enough that there is a need to start with a certain amount. But, if you only have as much, you might as well look for something that can get you started. Here are a few ideas on how it can help you create in running your own business with just a small capital. 1. Snacks/Treats like Chips You must have heard how people went crazy when the salted egg chips became popular. People just started making their own version of this great-tasting snack. However, you can also use other fruits such as bananas, sweet potato, and similar crops, which you can dehydrate and turn into chips. Filipinos love munching on these. Additionally, they can be given as pasalubong. For sure, for just less than Php1,000, you can start your own chips business. 2. Perfumes and colognes Perfume/cologne making is such an easy and fun thing to do. With just a starter kit between Php3,000-5,000, you can sell your products with a profit margin as high as 300 percent. 3. Chocolate Candies This never gets out of season. Everybody would surely want to have chocolate candies as treats and are also great as gifts. Using different molds can make it more enticing for people to buy them, especially when they are fancifully wrapped. 4.Home-cooked Meal delivery With our busy lives these days, people who intend to have a party would instead order cooked meals to be delivered on the day of the event itself. It reduces the stress of having to cook all of the meals. You can start by offering the most popular party dishes to your relatives and friends. They should be the walking advertisements that can genuinely help you become successful in your chosen career. 5. Online Selling You might think that online sellers started with colossal capital, especially when you see their Facebook Pages filled with so many items. Did you know that most of them just post photos of the items from their suppliers? And they do not shell out much money because they demand payment from their customers before buying the stuff from their suppliers? 6. Photography/Videography If you love taking pictures and you think that you truly have a knack for beauty, then this could just be the right business for you. Pre-nuptial photo shoots have become popular these days, and you can surely earn a lot from that alone. You just need to build a great portfolio before anyone can truly see you as a professional photographer or videographer. There are food cart businesses that allow you to franchise. If you think you cannot afford the cost, you can start on your own. Start with the food that most Filipinos commonly eat. Make a difference by adding some twists on how your food is presented, and you are surely going to be successful with it. 8. Event Organizing and Management With this kind of business, what you really need to earn are contacts and suppliers. You need dedicated people who can help you run such a business since it involves talking to various people. You need to ensure that the people you are dealing with are trustworthy enough so that your clients would be happy with the kind of service you have provided. There are so many other small businesses that you can actually start anytime. But you need to have the right mindset to make things possible. If you are one of those who would like to venture into something new, make sure that you equip yourself with enough knowledge about that kind of business. You can't always rely on others when it comes to your own business. They may be willing to help you out sometimes, but as the business owner, you need to grasp how the company should run. Some aspiring entrepreneurs choose a shorter way to build their business, and that is through franchising. So many companies are up for franchises but carefully select the people to deal with. Check the reputation of the franchise business by talking to current franchisees. Ask them about their experience regarding the support given to them by the franchisors and the consumer's feedback regarding the food. You can't always be afraid to start building your own. Just think of the great benefits of being your own boss. It may be a rough road at the start, but with just a little patience, who knows how your small business can be among the successful companies in the country in the future? ------------------------------------------------------ You may contact Armando "Butz" Bartolome for questions and more information.
