Handa Ka Na Ba sa Pasko Rush? A Holiday Checklist for Small Business Owners

Ramdam mo na ba? The “-ber” months are here, and for many of us in small business, this is the season that can make or break the whole year. Mas maraming tao sa mall, mas maraming order online, mas maraming bonus na hawak ng customers.

But here is what I have seen in my 35 years in business, after helping 350 companies: the holiday rush does not reward the business that works hardest. It rewards the business that is most prepared. Many owners get busy, get tired, and still end January asking, “Saan napunta ang kinita ko?”

So let us prepare now, while there is still time.

The opportunities are real this year

Government and private partners are actively opening doors for MSMEs this season:

  • The DTI-Bagong Pilipinas National Trade Fair featuring Coconut Philippines runs October 21 to 25, 2026 at SM Megamall, with regional MSME delegations joining. (Iloilo Metropolitan Times)
  • DTI launched the Negosyo Center Online Portal 2.0, so you can access registration help, advisory, training and mentoring remotely without going to an office. (The Manila Times)
  • DTI, Converge and TikTok Shop launched a bundled package for MSMEs selling through livestream. (Newsbytes.PH)
  • DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group also partnered with Toyota Motors Philippines to help MSMEs with more efficient logistics and mobility. (Logistics News PH)

Magandang balita ito. Pero tandaan: opportunity without preparation becomes pressure.

It also helps to learn from what the surviving MSMEs are doing differently right now.

Ang tunay na kalaban: hindi kakumpitensya, kundi kakulangan sa sistema

When sales double, every weakness in your business doubles too. Kulang ang stock. Pagod ang staff. Hindi tugma ang cash count. The owner ends up doing everything, and the customer experience suffers right when the most people are watching.

The good news? You can fix most of this in a few weeks. Here is my checklist.

Your Pasko Rush Readiness Checklist

1. Know your best sellers.
Look at last year’s December sales (or your last three months). Which 20% of products bring most of your income? Focus your stock, display and promos on those. Huwag ikalat ang puhunan sa lahat.

2. Secure your supply early.
Talk to your suppliers now. Confirm prices, delivery dates and minimum orders for November and December. Have a backup supplier for your top items.

3. Count your cash needs.
More sales usually means more stock to buy before you get paid. Write down how much cash you need for inventory, extra staff and promos. Separate your business money from your personal money, lalo na ngayong may bonus at handaan.

4. Prepare your people.
Will you need extra hands? Train them now, not on December 20. Write simple step-by-step guides for opening, closing, cash handling and customer service so anyone can follow.

5. Make one simple checklist for each shift.
Opening checklist. Closing checklist. Cash count sheet. Sounds basic, but this is how a business starts running without you standing there every minute.

As the Franguru of GMB Franchise Developers, I tell every owner the same thing: simple checklists are the first step to a business that can grow, even into a franchise someday.

6. Decide your online plan.
If you will sell on Facebook, TikTok Shop or livestream, decide your schedule, who handles messages, and how fast you will reply and deliver. A slow reply during the rush is a lost sale.

7. Plan a gift-ready offer.
Bundles, gift packs, and corporate orders sell well during the holidays. Price them so you still earn after packaging and delivery.

8. Track every peso, every day.
Simple daily sales and expense record. Kahit notebook lang. At the end of each week, ask: Did I actually earn, or was I just busy?

Bago gumastos sa promo, basahin mo muna ang why you should stop bara-bara marketing at the cost killers hiding inside your business.

9. Rest and protect yourself.
You are the most important asset of your business. Schedule your own day off. Ang pagod na may-ari, mahirap magdesisyon nang tama.

10. Plan for January now.
Holiday customers can become regular customers. Get their contact or follow on your page, and plan a January reason for them to come back.

Ang aral ko sa inyo

The holiday season is not just about selling more. It is a test of your system. If your business survives the Pasko rush smoothly, you learn that it can grow. If it breaks, you learn exactly where to strengthen it, and that is valuable too.

Kaya mo ‘yan. Start with one item on this checklist today.
